Teeth whitening is a non-invasive cosmetic dental treatment that whitens teeth by removing years of stains. Unfortunately, most of the things we eat and drink on a regular basis contain colored pigments that discolor our teeth over time. By removing these stains, teeth whitening brightens the teeth, greatly improving their appearance. Our office provides state of the art professional teeth whitening services that are safe, simple, and effective. In as little as 30-60 minutes, your smile can be whitened by 5-10 shades.
Did You Know?
Having whiter teeth has become the number one aesthetic concern for the majority of dental patients. Because of this, in-office teeth whitening procedures have become the most popular cosmetic dental treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Am I a candidate for teeth whitening?
You may be a candidate for teeth whitening if you have discolored or stained teeth and are looking to improve the appearance of your smile by removing these stains and brightening your teeth. However, teeth whitening procedures are not always effective on certain types of stains, such as those from aging or medications. Additionally, teeth whiteners are not effective on dental restorations and will only whiten tooth enamel. To determine if teeth whitening is the right choice for you, schedule a consultation with Sedation Dental Care at Raleigh Smile Center today.
What can I expect when having my teeth whitened?
Our teeth whitening system usually requires two dental visits. During the first dental visit, we will take a dental impression of your teeth in order to fabricate custom whitening trays. At the second visit, the whitner will be placed in these trays to safely whiten the teeth, while simultaneously protecting the gums. The trays will generally remain in place over your teeth for 30-60 minutes so that the whitener can be absorbed into the teeth.
In some cases, your dentist may also provide you with information on how to maintain your results with take-home whitening kits. Most take home whitening kits are worn twice a day for 30 minutes at a time or overnight for a couple of weeks.
Will I need to follow any special instructions after having my teeth whitened?
After having your teeth whitened, it is important to avoid eating or drinking anything that is highly pigmented. This is because the whitener will remain effective for the first hours and exposing your teeth to more stains minimizes how effective the whitener can be. If your dentist gives you a take home whitening kit, it is also important to make sure you use this kit as instructed to obtain the desired results. Finally, you will need to practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly for exams and cleanings
